Summary
Similarly to the mobile app, the desktop app would be able to send push notifications. Users would be able to independently enable email or push notifications on both mobile and desktop apps.
In addition (or as a first step), the web app could also send push notifications using the Web Push API.
Why should this be worked on?
Email notifications tend to quickly clutter one's email inbox. I would much prefer to rely on push notifications to get work item updates on my desktop.
