[Feature Request] Automatic Page Sorting by Page Number

Source: paperless-ngx/paperless-ngx#12886 · opened by @atclaus
Description

For documents that have a "page x of y" in the header/footer, it would be amazing to have Paperless auto sort those documents. Similarly, warning that the scan is missing pages vs the number of page mentioned in header/footer.

This is important for 1) times where a document gets out of order, 2) I know my scanner (ADS-3300W) sometimes has better success not multi-page-feeding when the document is put with the fold pushing the paper toward the feed tray vs up (consider standard tri-fold mailings have both folds "into" the page meaning the document would need to be placed last sheet first), and 3) help catch any multi-page-feed issues which I have encountered more than a few times.

I know some documents may not have them on the first page, but if tying front/back pages together and/or the only non-numbered page of an otherwise full series, it should auto-place.

_edit: maybe this would be a better AI related feature?_
