Rendering external links differently from internal links

Links to resources outside of the wiki (external links) are currently rendered in the same way as the links to resources on the wiki (internal links). Given, for example, that there is a pop-up with a preview of the content on hover for internal links and not for external links, it would make sense to render the two differently. One could include an appropriate icon at the end of the link, as is commonly done.
