Ability to render html within markdown

It would be great if we had the ability to render html code within pages for more advanced use cases. In our case, being able to use html to create two columns would be a game changer.

If not that, and you want to focus on solution rather than feature, the bigger solution would be the ability to essentially emulate the "/layout" feature of Confluence.
