Template Tag Input Delay

Id like to be able to configure an input delay when designing template tags. In particular, I have a custom template tag that generates some authentication details before a request, but as I fill in the details for the tag (e.g. username and password) the tag is invoked numerous times which can lead to errors.

I'd like to be able to configure an input delay, so that the tag only executes after none of the fields have been updated for a set period of time
