Feature request: select all objects inside an enclosing shape

Feature request: select all objects inside an enclosing shape: Often, I need to select all objects that lie within an enclosing shape like a rectangle or ellipse. To do that, I usually need to zoom out so that the whole enclosing shape completely visible and small enough to easily select by dragging the mouse or trackpad. Then I do the selection, either move or group and zoom in again.
It would be nice to have a menu item and / or a keyboard shortcut to select all the objects that lie completely inside the enclosing shape.
