Describe the Problem In Germany (and in several other countries), a Double Opt-In process is legally required for newsletter subscriptions. This means that after a user signs up for a newsletter, they must receive a confirmation email containing a unique link. Clicking this link explicitly confirms their subscription. Currently, the application only supports a single opt-in flow. Without a proper double opt-in mechanism, sending marketing emails could violate legal requirements in certain regions. Propose a Solution • Add an optional “Double Opt-In” feature for marketing email subscriptions. • When enabled, the process should be: 1. User fills in the newsletter sign-up form. 2. System sends a confirmation email with a unique, time-limited verification link. 3. Only after the user clicks the link is the subscription activated, and they are added to the marketing list. • Store the date/time and IP of the confirmation for compliance tracking. Additional…
