Conditional video or image loading based on bandwidth

I just had a look at [this content](

This evry interesting technique offers the possibility to serve a video to any user who benefits from a good bandwidth, and a image instead.
Video content can be decisive assets when it comes to discover a product. Thing is, it's costful in terms of bandwidth, and that's a major issur when delivering to mobiles since Google is now mobile first, and really watches page rendering time and weight.

The classic approach not to hurt rankings is to serve an image for mobiles, and a video for desktops.
But that's a big trade off: if the video is much more convincing than the image, and a given mobile user has a very decent bandwidth, everybody could benefit from him getting the video rather than the image.

The method offered here is a good way to maintain user experience without sacrifying rankings. Or the other way around :)

Would you consider adding the bandwidth as a display condition?
