Open Item in Drawer from Collection Layout

I'm manually updating a bunch of items, and going back and forth from the collection view to the item view is a bit disorienting, especially for small fixes/corrections. I think having a way to preview an item with the side panel (view attached mockup) before entering could be handy and good UX.

It could be read-only or full CRUD, depending on implementation complexity, and maybe it could be a toggleable option in the collection settings?

What do you guys think?
