Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about FeatureFuel, pledges, voting, and how to request features.
FeatureFuel is a platform where anyone can request features from any product or service. You can upvote feature requests you care about, back them with pledges to show your commitment, and help bring the features you want to life.
Products can claim their listings, manage incoming requests, and track pledges — making it easier to understand what users actually want.
A pledge is money you put behind a feature request to show real demand, not just a vote.
Trust pledges are a public promise — "if you implement this feature, I'll contribute financially to support your work." They're free, work on every request today, and you're never charged.
Card-backed and pre-paid pledges let you back a request with a real card — verified now, only charged if (and when) the feature is implemented. A product owner turns this on by connecting their Stripe account, so it's available wherever the owner has enabled it; on every other product, a pledge is a Trust pledge.
Visit the product page and click "Request a Feature." You don't need an account — just provide your email address and a description of the feature you'd like to see.
Your request will be visible to others immediately, but will only be published to the world once you confirm your email address. This prevents spam and keeps the platform clean.
If a feature request already exists for what you want, upvote or pledge to the existing request instead of creating a duplicate.
No. You can vote, pledge, request features, and leave comments using just your email address. We create a provisional account for you instantly — no password, no signup form needed.
Your content is only published once you confirm your email, which helps us prevent spam and ensures all contributors are reachable.
If you'd like to claim a product, manage multiple requests, or access admin features, you'll need to create a full account or sign in.
Votes show interest — a simple "I want this feature." Votes are quick and free. You can vote on as many requests as you'd like.
Pledges show commitment — you're putting money behind a feature, whether that's a Trust promise or a verified card. Pledges have weight and let product teams understand which features matter most to their users.
You can both vote and pledge on the same request. Pledging doesn't replace voting; it amplifies it.
On any feature request page, enter the amount you'd like to pledge and click "Pledge." You'll be asked for your email address and name (if you haven't already given them).
If the product's owner has connected Stripe, you'll see the option to back your pledge with a card right there on the same form. Otherwise the pledge is recorded as a Trust pledge — a promise, not a charge — the moment you submit it.
Pledges from multiple people add up, showing the product team how much demand there really is for a feature.
Nothing is ever charged on a Trust pledge — it's a promise, not a payment. A card-backed pledge is only charged once the feature is actually implemented; if the request is declined, the card is never charged (and a pre-paid pledge is refunded). If a request is marked "Declined" or is merged as a duplicate, your pledge stays on the record but is no longer counted as active demand.
You can always withdraw a pledge from your account.
Yes. You can withdraw a pledge at any time from your account page.
Since Trust pledges are never charged, withdrawing one is risk-free.
Use the search bar on the homepage, or browse every product alphabetically on the Products page. You'll see all public feature requests for that product, sorted by votes and pledges.
If a product isn't on FeatureFuel yet, you can add it yourself when filing your first feature request.
Once a product is claimed by its owner, they can organize and respond to requests.
You can add it yourself. When creating a feature request, search for the product name. If it doesn't exist, there's an option to create it on the fly.
This makes FeatureFuel work for any product — even new ones or niche tools. The product owner can claim it later.
If your product is already listed on FeatureFuel, visit its page and click "Claim this product." You'll be asked to verify ownership (usually via email or domain verification).
Once claimed, you can manage feature requests, update status, view pledge totals, and respond to your users.
If your product isn't listed yet, it will be created automatically when someone files the first request against it.
Product owners can:
- View all feature requests and pledges for their product
- Update request status (Planned, In Progress, Completed, Declined, Duplicate)
- View total pledges — commitment from users to pay if a feature is implemented
- Comment on requests to ask clarifying questions or provide updates
- Track demand to prioritize development
- Optionally connect Stripe to accept card-backed pledges, charged only when a feature ships
Yes. Voting, pledging, requesting features, and claiming and managing a product are all free, and always will be.
The only fee is a small percentage FeatureFuel takes on card-backed pledges once they're collected — never on Trust pledges, and never charged to anyone unless money actually changes hands.
FeatureFuel is free for voting, pledging, and requesting features, and free for owners to claim and run their product. FeatureFuel takes a small percentage as a platform fee at the moment a card-backed pledge is collected — the product owner receives the rest directly, since FeatureFuel never holds pledged funds itself.
